In a heartbreaking turn of events, Sophia Hutchins a rising entrepreneur and the longtime manager and confidante of Caitlyn Jenner has tragically passed away at the age of 29 following an ATV crash in Malibu, California.
The fatal accident occurred Wednesday morning near Jenner’s $3.5 million Malibu condo. According to TMZ, Hutchins collided with the bumper of a moving vehicle while operating her all-terrain vehicle. The crash launched both Sophia and the ATV off the road, sending them plummeting 350 feet down a steep ravine.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but tragically, Hutchins was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver of the other vehicle involved was unharmed. Authorities have yet to confirm Caitlyn Jenner’s whereabouts at the time of the crash.
A Bond Beyond Business: The Jenner-Hutchins Relationship
Sophia and Caitlyn’s bond wasn’t just professional , it was deeply personal. Their journey began in 2015, when they met through mutual hairstylists. At that time, Caitlyn had recently come out as transgender and begun her public transition. Hutchins, then a college student, was inspired by Jenner’s journey and later credited it as a turning point for her own decision to transition.
Sophia, also a transgender woman, would go on to become a prominent figure in Caitlyn’s life not as a partner, as many speculated, but as a friend, advisor, and manager. The two quickly became inseparable, living together and working side-by-side for years. Hutchins became a regular figure in Jenner’s world, attending Kardashian family events and appearing on E!’s I Am Cait series.
Despite the constant speculation surrounding the nature of their relationship, both Caitlyn and Sophia repeatedly denied rumors of romance. In 2018, Sophia made her stance clear in an interview:
“It was never romantic. Never sexual. It was very much friends but I understand why people perceived it that way… It’s more parental. I date guys. And Caitlyn’s like, ‘I gotta sign off on him.’ It’s very parental, very protective. We’re family.”
In 2021, she reaffirmed her position, telling People,
“There’s no hanky panky. I feel like I’ve been saying that for the past five years.”

Sophia’s Journey: From College Leader to Entrepreneur
Born on April 1, 1996, in Bellevue, Washington, Sophia Hutchins was a driven and accomplished young woman from an early age. She attended Pepperdine University, where she pursued a degree in economics and finance. As a junior, she held the prestigious position of Class of 2018 President a role she resigned from to fully focus on her gender transition.
Inspired by Caitlyn Jenner’s bold coming-out interview on 20/20, Sophia made the brave decision to transition while still in school a journey she navigated with grace and transparency.
Graduating in 2019, Hutchins went on to launch Lumasol SPF, a cutting-edge sunscreen mist company where she served as CEO. Her passion for business and branding eventually led her to also serve as the CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting the LGBTQ community.
Her achievements reached into pop culture as well. In 2020, she landed a high-profile opportunity, starring in an ad campaign for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear brand, further solidifying her place within the Kardashian-Jenner inner circle.
“I’m on good terms with all the family,” Hutchins said in 2019, “but I’m closest with Kris, Kim, Kylie, and Kendall.”

Legacy of a Bright Star Gone Too Soon
Sophia Hutchins may have only lived 29 years, but her impact reached far beyond her age. She was a voice for young transgender individuals, an advocate for inclusivity in business, and a powerful example of how inspiration can lead to transformation.
Her sudden death has left fans, friends, and the LGBTQ community in mourning. Yet, Sophia’s legacy one of ambition, courage, friendship, and authenticity will live on through her work, her advocacy, and the many lives she touched along the way.
As of now, Caitlyn Jenner has yet to publicly comment on the tragic incident. But given their closeness, there’s no doubt the loss is devastating on both a personal and professional level.
