Tiffany Haddish has always been known for her raw honesty and fearless humor. But behind the jokes and bright lights, the comedian and actress has also opened her heart about one deeply personal dream  becoming a mother.

Over the years, she’s spoken candidly about her hopes, fears, and setbacks when it comes to having children. Now, in 2025, speculation is swirling that Haddish may have finally welcomed a baby with longtime friend Jason Lee.

“I Want to Give Them My Love”: Why Tiffany Wants to Be a Mom

Back in November 2020, Tiffany Haddish was dating rapper Common when she shared a heartfelt confession on his podcast, Mind Power Mixtape. She didn’t just want to be a mom she wanted to raise children with intention and wisdom.

“I just want to bring to them survival skills, share everything that I know with them,” she explained. Her plan? Foster or adopt older children, ideally between 6 and 10 years old  kids who were already toilet-trained and could communicate their needs but still young enough to be molded and loved.

“They’re still malleable in a lot of ways until they’re 21,” she added.

They’re Gonna Be Hunted”: The Fear Behind Her Delay
Tiffany’s desire for motherhood wasn’t without hesitation. In a July 2020 interview with Carmelo Anthony on What’s In Your Glass?, she revealed a powerful and painful truth: racism made her afraid to have children.

“I would hate to give birth to someone that looks like me knowing that they’re gonna be hunted or killed,” she said, referencing the systemic racism Black Americans face. “White people don’t have to think about that.”

She admitted to making excuses like saying she needed a million dollars in the bank but deep down, it was fear that held her back. Still, she believed change was possible if communities came together.

From Parenting Classes to Egg Donation: Tiffany’s Unique Path
In May 2021, Tiffany appeared on E!’s Daily Pop and dropped a surprising update: she was actively taking parenting classes to prepare for adoption.

Her goal was clear. “I’m looking at, you know, 5 and up really like 7,” she said. “I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk. I want them to know that I put in the work and I wanted them.”

As for having a biological child through surrogacy? She wasn’t interested.

“I don’t wanna pay nobody to carry my baby neither, ‘cause then I have to go through a process of giving myself injections and all that stuff,” she revealed.

In a vulnerable moment, Haddish shared something few knew she once sold her eggs in her early 20s out of financial desperation. “Maybe I have some kids out on the streets, but I never got the bonus,” she joked. “Maybe somewhere though, in cryo somewhere!”

Miscarriages, Endometriosis, and the Pain of Loss
Tiffany’s journey hasn’t been without heartbreak. In July 2023, she opened up on the Broad Ideas podcast with Rachel Bilson, revealing that she had suffered multiple miscarriages.

“I had a lot of miscarriages,” she said, linking them to endometriosis and misdiagnoses. “Those miscarriages were as painful as a motherf*****. I feel like a piece of my soul died every time.”

The emotional toll was enormous. She began to believe the losses were divine signs. “That was God’s birth control telling me, ‘He is not the one.’”

“I Want to Be Present”: Putting Adoption on Pause
Despite her strong desire to become a mom, Tiffany has been realistic about timing. In November 2021, she told Us Weekly that she had to press pause on the adoption process because her career was booming.

“I want to raise the child. I want to give the child my knowledge and my love,” she said. “I want to be all the way present. I don’t want somebody else doing that work.”

Tiffany emphasized that parenting requires commitment not just financially, but emotionally and physically. It wasn’t something she wanted to outsource.

Still, she lit up when imagining what motherhood would be like.

“Sharing everything that I know and pouring it into them… Also having somebody to watch TV with and laugh with that thinks I’m cool,” she said with a smile. “Even if it’s only for a few years.”

You Promised Me a Baby”: The Jason Lee Connection
Fast forward to November 2024, and an unexpected twist emerged.

During an episode of the Hollywood Unlocked podcast, host Jason Lee Haddish’s close friend reminded her of a promise.

“You did promise me you would give me a kid,” said Lee, who is openly gay. “Cardi B already said she’ll be the godmother. You still serious?”

Without skipping a beat, Tiffany replied, “Yes.” She added that they needed to talk about the “cost of” having a baby, as Lee admitted he didn’t want to “do it the old-fashioned way.”

This lighthearted yet sincere exchange planted a seed and fans took note.

Baby Rumors in 2025: Did Tiffany and Jason Welcome a Child?
In August 2025, Instagram lit up with speculation. Jason Lee posted a photo of Haddish holding an infant, smiling sweetly, with another photo of him gripping a stroller and hugging her.

“Cat’s out the bag ❤️,” he captioned the post, sending fans into a frenzy.

While neither has confirmed the baby’s identity or whether it’s adoption, surrogacy, or co-parenting, one thing is clear: Tiffany’s dream may finally be coming true  and on her own terms.
