Christina Haack, the HGTV star loved for her home makeovers and bubbly personality, is no stranger to ups and downs in her personal life. But this time, it wasn’t a co-star, an ex-husband, or the media calling her out it was her 10-year-old son, Brayden.
In a heartwarming yet brutally honest moment, Brayden told his mom that while she’s a “wonderful” person, she simply makes “bad choices in men.” The candid comment came shortly after Christina’s split from Joshua Hall in 2024, and it reveals just how deeply children observe and understand more than we often give them credit for.

Brayden Steps Into Protector Mode
Of, 42, recalled the moment to Us Weekly while promoting her new champagne. She said that after the split, Brayden climbed into bed with her at night, showing a protective, almost “old soul” side of himself.
“He was just speaking life into me,” Christina shared. “He told me, ‘You’re a wonderful mom, you’re a great person, you’re amazing you just make really bad choices in men.’”
Christina laughed at her son’s honesty but admitted it was a wake-up call. “He said, ‘Dad’s the best, but you make bad choices.’ Sorry, Tarek, he loves you obviously.”
It’s moments like this that remind us children often see the truth long before adults do.
Kids Notice More Than Parents Realize
Brayden wasn’t the only one who picked up on the issues in Christina’s marriage to Hall. Her older children Taylor, 15, and Hudson, 6 also noticed.
“The kids would bring it up to me,” Christina confessed. “They’d say, ‘Dad and Heather hold hands. Dad and Heather are cuddly. You guys don’t hug, you don’t hold hands, you don’t even look at each other like you like each other.’”
For Christina, those words hit hard. “That’s such a sad thing to hear. I had to ask myself, ‘What am I showing them? That this is normal? Because I’m not happy, and they can see that.’”
This painful realization became an important lesson for her: happiness at home isn’t just about her it directly impacts what her kids learn about love and relationships.
Christina’s Relationship Timeline: From Tarek to Christopher
Christina’s love life has been very public, and fans have followed her through multiple marriages, divorces, and fresh starts.
Tarek El Moussa (2009 – 2018): Christina married her Flip or Flop co-star, and they share Taylor and Brayden. Even after their split in 2016 and divorce in 2018, the two co-hosted the show until 2022.

Ant Anstead (2018 – 2020): Christina’s second marriage brought son Hudson into her life. The two divorced in 2020 but continue to co-parent.

Joshua Hall (2021 – 2024): Christina’s third marriage began in 2021, with a wedding celebration in 2022. By mid-2024, they announced their split, finalizing the divorce in May 2025.

After her rocky relationship with Hall, Christina found love again this time with Orange County businessman Christopher LaRocca. Unlike her previous relationships, Christina describes this one as calm, supportive, and truly life-changing.
“Nice people still exist,” she gushed. “I feel lucky meeting him, but I also believe I deserved this. He’s changed my life for the better.”
Lessons in Love: Ignoring Red Flags
Christina openly admitted she saw red flags in her relationship with Hall but chose to overlook them.
“It’s not like I missed them,” she explained. “I was swept up in so much chaos in life, in this industry. For whatever reason, I ignored them at that time.”
Her honesty resonates with so many who have found themselves in relationships they knew weren’t right, but stayed in anyway. Christina’s story is a reminder that even successful, confident women can fall into that trap and also find their way out.
A New Chapter: Champagne Dreams Come True
While her love life has had its ups and downs, Christina has found stability and excitement in her new business venture. She recently launched Clé Cachée, a luxury champagne brand inspired by her love for manifesting and celebrating life’s hidden treasures.
“I’m a champagne girl,” she admitted. “Once you try it, you’ll appreciate it. It’s from the Grand Cru region in France the most prestigious for grapes.”
Her champagne is a Blanc de Blancs, naturally sweet with very little sugar (less than five grams per bottle the equivalent of one Starburst!). Christina even promises it won’t leave you with a hangover.
“I designed everything,” she said proudly. “I came up with the name, which means ‘hidden key.’ It’s all about manifesting your hidden potential within and celebrating it.”
She was deeply involved in every step of production, even traveling to France to choose grapes and approve the flavor. “I’m very picky, so naturally, I wanted it to be perfect.”
Christina’s Happily Ever After?
Between her kids’ wisdom, her new love with Christopher LaRocca, and the launch of Clé Cachée, Christina Haack seems to be stepping into a new season of her life.
She’s learning to model happiness for her children, embracing love with someone who truly values her, and pursuing her passion projects with authenticity.
Her son Brayden may have been right she’s made some bad choices in men. But now, Christina is proving that those choices don’t define her. Instead, they’ve led her to a place where she’s manifesting happiness, success, and maybe just maybe her true happily ever after.
